Head Coach-Darrell Hamlett

Darrell Hamlett will be entering his second season as the head coach after serving as JV head coach and varsity assistant coach for five years. The Tigers went 10-11-2 in his first year and finished tied for fourth place in District 13-5A. Klein Collins also won the Copa de Yellow Jacket Tournament in 2011. His JV's overall record was 45-30-16.

 

Coach Hamlett is a member of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He holds the NSCAA Advanced Regional diploma, NSCAA state and regional goalkeeper diplomas.

 

Coach Hamlett grew up playing youth soccer and a variety of other sports in Farragut, Tennessee. He moved with his family to Texas before his junior year of high school. Coach Hamlett was a goalkeeper for two years at Seguin High School where he also lettered in cross country. While in Seguin, he played club soccer with the Seguin Sidekicks and also in an adult league in San Antonio. He has played adult soccer for the Greyhounds of the TORSO league.

Coach Hamlett played on the Sam Houston State rugby club team and also participated in intramural soccer while at SHSU. He graduated from Sam Houston State in 2001 with a degree in Radio-Television and a minor in English.

 

Coach Hamlett teaches junior English at Klein Collins. 

Coach Hamlett and his wife Amanda have two children - Taylor and Kaylynn.



Assistant Coach-Blaine Toshner

Blaine Toshner will be entering his second season as the assistant coach this year. He led the JV to a 10-7-2 record and a third place finish in district play. He is in his fourth year at Klein Collins where he previously worked with the football, basketball, and track programs.

Coach Toshner is a native of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin where he graduated from St. Mary's Spring High School. As a senior, he played on  the first state championship football team in school’s history. He then went to North Dakota State where he was a part of the 3 time NCAA Div. II football champions (1 runner-up), and a track participant. After graduating from NDSU, Coach Toshner spent one season with the Helsinki Roosters in Helsinki, Finland where he was a participant in the “Eurobowl” of 1989 and won the bronze medal.

Coach Toshner has 14 years of coaching experience in football and track - one at Woodworth M.S.; five at St. Mary’s Springs H.S. (3 undefeated seasons 39-0 and 3 State Titles); five at Conroe Oak Ridge H.S. (also coached basketball) and three at Klein Collins H.S..  He also did coach ping pong one year when he was in Bogota, Colombia (we “paddled” everyone!).

Coach Toshner enjoys all sports, the outdoors, his Jack Russell Terrier Jameson and laughing. He comes from a large, loving family that consists of his mother Mickey, father-Darrell, and siblings Steve, Julie, Kevin, Brian, Brennan, Mary and Maureen.

Coach Toshner received his teaching certificate from Marian College in Wisconsin and currently teaches sophomore English at KCHS.
